Practice Product Ownership in Real Time
RPO is a hands-on training. Through exercises, case studies, and team-based activities, you’ll experience the Product Owner role firsthand and practice the decisions Product Owners make every day.
Participants will set a Product Vision, assess business value, prioritize a Product Backlog, and make tradeoffs between competing opportunities.
As the course progresses, instructors introduce new customer feedback, shifting priorities, and other real-world changes, giving you the opportunity to reassess value, adjust the Product Backlog, and decide what comes next.

The course also covers techniques and metrics for prioritizing features, projects, and portfolios, patterns used by high-performing Scrum Teams, and the Product Owner role at scale with Scrum@Scale®.
How does Scrum help improve product delivery?
Scrum creates transparency, accelerates feedback, and gives teams a structured way to continuously improve.
Effective Product Backlog and release management help teams focus on the highest-value work, respond to new information, and continuously improve what they deliver to customers and stakeholders.
Do I need previous Scrum experience?
There is no required prerequisite, but prior Scrum knowledge is extremely helpful.
We recommend completing Registered Scrum Master™ training, Scrum Startup for Teams, or having equivalent real-world experience with Scrum before taking the course.
How do I earn the Registered Product Owner credential?
To be eligible for the credentialing exam, you must complete at least 14 hours of live instruction covering all RPO Learning Objectives with a Registered Scrum Trainer™ (RST).
Pass the exam and you’ll earn your Registered Product Owner™ credential.
Does this course count toward PMI PDUs?
Yes. This course counts for 16 PMI PDUs and fulfills 16 of the 21 contact hours required for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification.
What do I need for class?
For live remote courses, you’ll need a computer, reliable internet connection, and access to Zoom with video and audio.
For in-person courses, there’s no formal dress code. Most attendees wear business casual, and jeans are fine. We recommend bringing layers so you can stay comfortable throughout the training.
What if I have to leave for part of the training?
If you’re seeking the RPO credential, you cannot miss more than two hours of the course.
What if I need to transfer to a different date?
Start times vary by course and schedules are listed on each course registration page. Check the specific course you’re interested in for the start time and time zone.

What if I need to transfer to a different date?
No problem. We can move you to another class or transfer your registration to another person. Contact our training team at education@scruminc.com and we’ll help you make the change.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel at least two weeks before the class start date to receive a full refund. After that, we can move your registration to another date or give you credit toward a future class.
