How is RPO@S different from Registered Product Owner training?
Registered Product Owner™ focuses on the Product Owner role at the Scrum Team level, including Product Vision, Product Backlog management, assessing value, prioritization, and the decisions required to guide a product effectively.
Registered Product Owner@Scale™ builds on that foundation.
RPO@S focuses on what changes when Product Ownership spans multiple teams, Product Owners, products, or portfolios. The emphasis shifts from managing the priorities of one team to coordinating product direction across a broader network while keeping strategy, stakeholders, and execution aligned.
What is a Product Owner@Scale?
A Product Owner@Scale operates in an environment where multiple Scrum Teams and Product Owners contribute to a larger product, product family, or portfolio.
Depending on the organization, that responsibility may sit with a Group Product Owner, Chief Product Owner, Product Manager, portfolio leader, or another product leadership role.
The focus is on creating alignment across that network so teams can work toward shared product and organizational goals.
What is the MetaScrum?
The MetaScrum is part of the Product Owner Cycle in Scrum@Scale. It brings stakeholders and product leadership together to align around strategic priorities and communicate those priorities across the Product Owner organization.
Rather than allowing competing stakeholder requests to reach teams independently, the MetaScrum helps establish a shared view of what matters most and gives Product Owners clearer strategic direction.
Is this an advanced Product Owner course?
Yes. RPO@S is designed for experienced practitioners and builds beyond the individual Product Owner role to focus on product leadership, prioritization, planning, feedback, measurement, and coordination across multiple teams, products, or portfolios.
Participants must complete a Registered Scrum@Scale Practitioner™ training or equivalent as a prerequisite. Experience in Product Ownership or product management is also highly recommended.
How do I earn the Registered Product Owner@Scale credential?
Complete the course and pass the credentialing exam to earn your Registered Product Owner@Scale™ credential.
What are the benefits of the Registered Product Owner@Scale credential?
Your RPO@S credential recognizes your understanding of Product Ownership within Scrum@Scale, including coordinating Product Ownership across teams, connecting product direction to organizational goals, and creating alignment across a scaled product environment.
Credential holders are authorized to use the Registered Product Owner@Scale™ badge and are eligible to be listed in the International Registry of Agile Professionals™.
What do I need for class?
For live remote courses, you’ll need a computer, reliable internet connection, and access to Zoom with video and audio.
For in-person courses, there’s no formal dress code. Most attendees wear business casual, and jeans are fine. We recommend bringing layers so you can stay comfortable throughout the training.
When does the course begin?
Start times vary by course and schedules are listed on each course registration page. Please check the specific course that you are interested in attending.
For participants seeking to earn the credential, you cannot miss more than 2 hours of the course. Be sure to note the time zone and set your calendar reminders appropriately.
What if I need to transfer to a different date?
No problem. We can move you to another class or transfer your registration to another person. Contact our training team at education@scruminc.com and we’ll help you make the change.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel at least two weeks before the class start date to receive a full refund. After that, we can move your registration to another date or give you credit toward a future class.
