JJ Sutherland

As CEO of Scrum Inc, JJ is responsible for the strategic direction of the company. He is the author of The Scrum Fieldbook: A Master Class on Accelerating Performance, Getting Results and Defining the Future, and the co-author of Best Seller, Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time.

A  Scrum Inc. Trainer and leading expert in Enterprise Agility, JJ works with companies around the world to help them adapt to change, accelerate value delivery, reduce waste, and increase profit.

Before joining Scrum Inc., JJ was an award-winning Correspondent and Producer with NPR.

Matthew Jacobs

Chief Product Owner, Consulting

Matt Jacobs is the Chief Product Owner of the transformation business and is dedicated to helping your organization improve and change to deliver greater value faster. At Scrum Inc, Matt works with the team to design Agile transformations that are sustainable deliver their business objectives and that are sustainable for the longterm.

Matt has had a long history of working with companies to evolve, change, and reposition the way they work. Prior to joining Scrum Inc., Matt spent 8 years consulting on Mergers and Acquisitions, Target Operating Model Design, and harnessing the power of AI. However, with the growing rate of change for companies, Matt has not found a better way of working than Scrum and is excited to continue adopting Scrum Inc’s transformation business and our clients.

When not working Matt is seeking other adventure and challenges mostly in the great outdoors. Matt is an avid skier, biker, and skydiver.

Jeff Sutherland

Jeff is the inventor and co-creator of Scrum. He is a West Point graduate, former fighter pilot, and cancer researcher. He launched the first Scrum team in 1993 and has shepherded its growth into almost every industry: finance, healthcare, higher education, and telecom. He co-authored the bestselling book Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time. His latest book is A Scrum Book: The Spirit of the Game.

Geoff Clemm

Chief Financial Officer

Geoff Clemm is the Chief Financial Officer of Scrum Inc. In that role, he is responsible for ensuring that transparent financial information is effectively used to help the company inspect and adapt its strategy. He brings a decade of experience in financial operations and management consulting roles ranging from strategy and operations to innovation and design.

Geoff holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and graduated summa cum laude from Colorado College with a degree in applied mathematics.

Veronica Ruiz

Chief Marketing Officer

Veronica Ruiz leads our outreach and branding strategies, including our online learning resource ScrumLab, our Live Webinar Series, our Social Media channels and our Newsletter. She keeps the Scrum world up-to-date on the latest developments on Scrum.

Veronica has 10+ years of Marketing experience, with a specialty in Hispanic Marketing and in the Telecom Industry.

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant

Martin is an Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant with 37 years of experience in UK Defense, including a 3-year tour flying the E-2C Hawkeye with the United States Navy, 6 months in Afghanistan with the US Marine Corps and numerous deployments across the globe flying from Royal Navy aircraft carriers. He has formed, inspired and led high-performing teams, had the privilege of Command of a Royal Navy helicopter Squadron and worked at the strategic level of Defense both in the UK, with NATO and with key international partner nations.

Martin is an Agilist to the core whose passion is helping people, teams, leaders and organizations redefine the way they work, find better ways, and in doing so, help them to realize their latent potential.

Tom Bullock

Chief Storyteller, Change Management Lead

Tom is a firm believer in the power of a well-told, well-sourced story. It’s an art he spent 20 years mastering at every level of public radio. His work has been recognized with every major broadcast journalism award and has earned him a page in the book commemorating NPR’s first 45 years of work.

Now, Tom will help tell the story of Scrum and help expand the reach of our concepts, techniques, and body of knowledge.

Malcolm Butler

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant

Malcolm has been an agile coach within large organizations for several years. He has worked across all levels of the organization, but found most impact when working with the most senior leaders and working through agile transformations at the highest level. These transformations all yielded tangible successful outcomes.

As a former client of Scrum Inc., Malcolm truly understands what it means to be an agile organization. In his role, Malcolm continues to use his knowledge of Scrum and agile to facilitate successful transformations across organizations.

When not at work, Malcolm enjoys walking, traveling, golf, cooking and spending time with his wife and his Golden Retriever.

Software Engineer

Elias is a Software Engineer with experience creating mobile solutions for the trucking industry, as well as creating software solutions for county governments. The Scrum principles are important to Elias, and he has a passion to bring together his love of technology and Scrum. Elias believes that Scrum can improve the efficiency, overall happiness, and communication for anyone who wishes to learn Scrum.

Outside of work Elias enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and making personal code projects. Contributing to his community is important to Elias where he donates his time at charities and is a foster parent. 

James Edmondson

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant 

James is a highly skilled and experienced agile transformation consultant. He has over 20 years experience in the military leading high performing teams at sea around the world, including command of a warship. Over the last 5 years James has been working in the utility sector leading and transforming change teams to drive organisational effectiveness.

James’ north star is to help teams and organisations to become high performing, this is why he joined ScrumInc.
When not at work James is a busy Dad, helping to coach his children’s sport teams. Any spare time he has is used to read and swim.

Director of Agile Ops

Joe spent the last 14 years in the Power Utility industry, specifically in the area of Utility Engineering and Business Operations. During his time in the Engineering arena, much of his efforts were focused on client engagement, assembling and leading project teams, process development, and key operations initiatives. Joe is passionate about trying new ways to get things done, and enjoys seeing the results of process improvements positively impacting organizations. Joe is known for his can-do attitude and devotion to excellence and is trusted to deliver quality service.
When he isn’t changing the world of work, he spends time with his wife, Glorimar, and their six children. They enjoy playing and watching Baseball, Go-Kart racing, and exploring new places.
Beth Frazier

Director of Team Learning and People Development

Beth joined us from the Financial Industry, with 20+ years’ experience in customer service, training, and website development. She discovered Scrum working with tech teams and jokes that she found a name for how her brain naturally worked.

She combines her educational background of English and History with her professional expertise building teams and designing training program content to foster an understanding of people, culture, and the role of engagement in business. As product owner for the Scrum@Scale training program, she developed an active community of trainers, and builds on that experience to bring the voice of our customers to the Agile Education Program.

In her spare time, Beth has been a small business owner, a military wife, designed and remodeled homes, and served several charities. Her points of greatest pride are cultivating a successful marriage and raising three positive kids who are making their own impact on the world. Life for Beth is embracing learning, loyalty, connectedness, and excellence. She strives to walk out her belief that if we can do good, we should do good; to people and for the world.

Jenna comes from the Sports and Performance Psychology world and believes in the power of teamwork and the magic that can come from effective questions. Connecting before coaching is her mantra whether that’s coaching Scrum teams, track and field athletes, or her own two little boys.Outside of her STC role, Jenna is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant and runs her sport psychology consulting company, The Mental Clutch, to enhance mental skills, team cohesion, and performance for individuals, coaches, and teams.

George Glennie

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant 

George is a passionate change agent whose skills helping organisations improve the way they work have been honed in a career spanning business and product development in software, Naval helicopter aviation in the British Royal Navy, and now, as an enterprise Agile transformation consultant with Scrum Inc.

George specialises in coaching teams at every level to identify non value add work, remove it and re-focus on valuable outcomes – Helping people have those ‘aha!’ moments of discovering new and better ways of doing things is what keeps George motivated every day.

Outside of work, George is an avid traveller and outdoor enthusiast, having recently come back from a 6 month adventure with his partner Grace, travelling Europe and North Africa in their self-converted van.

Graham Harby

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant 

Graham is an Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant with a broad range of experience, honed in various domains including engineering, security, analysis, project delivery, business improvement and agility, across a spectrum of military, industry, and public sector organisations.

Recognised as an innovator, Graham has been at the forefront of delivering improvements throughout his career, including, creating, and leading the Royal Navy’s Agile Centre of Excellence with the aim to deliver Scrum ways of working to over 30,000 personnel.

Fortunate to be naturally equipped with an Agile Mindset, Graham is able to harness his quick thinking but calm style to deliver maximum effect for Scrum Inc customers, across all levels of an organisation.

Alex Interlandi

Director of Training Operations

Based in the DC metro area, Alex comes to Scrum Inc. with a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, with former work experience at powerhouse institutions such as United Way and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Before joining Scrum Inc., Alex facilitated creative problem solving workshops that included teaching technologies such as MIG welding, 3D printing, and laser cutting. Alex will complete her Executive Leadership MBA at James Madison University in December 2022. She received her BA in music with a concentration in classical piano from George Mason University and a minor in arts management.

3 fun facts about Alex: she was adopted from China, she believes cornhole is the ultimate lawn game and takes it very seriously, and each of her tattoos is inspired by influential songs in her life.

Jess Jagoditsh

Director of UK Operations

A Yooper by birth (Google it!), Jess has always been a bit of an adventurer. Her Dance/Russian majors and itchy heels landed her as a linguist in the Army. Post military, she landed as a project manager in a software company, which led to a scrum master role in a fun startup. There, she helped the entire organization think and work in an Agile way. Post-startup, she landed in Boston at NPR, scrumming with dev teams there. This led to her to Scrum, Inc, where she is an internal Scrum Master – protector of culture and seeker of ways to help humans be happy at work and in life.

Product Owner, Agile Education Program

Jessica has a background in logic and linguistics and has years of experience as an educator and university instructor. Her passion for empiricism, problem-solving, and analyzing patterns brought her to Scrum Inc. She leads the international Agile Education Program powered by Scrum Inc. (our credentialing and curriculum arm), which includes the training and development of over 100 trainers worldwide.

When she’s not at work, Jessica spends her time doing pottery, reading and enjoying outdoor pastimes such as skiing, kiteboarding, hiking, and mountain biking.

Alyssa Layden

Director of Marketing and Strategy

Alyssa Layden is a results-driven agile marketing leader with a penchant for quick wit and great storytelling. Prior to joining Scrum Inc., Alyssa helped small business owners, SMB clients, and startups in growth-mode drive demand and deliver ongoing ROI. She believes in utilizing creative, low-cost marketing strategies to acquire and retain customers, as well the power of community. Alyssa’s personal motto is “sell the problem you solve, not the product you make” or “lighten up” – depends on the day.

Senior Software Engineer

Reiner is a Senior Software Engineer with years of experience building software solutions in the construction industry. Reiner strived to apply Scrum principles even before coming to Scrum Inc. and firmly believes in the mission to fundamentally change how the world works. Reiner is driven by his passion for both personal and process improvement through constantly researching ways to be better and live better. When he is not coding or researching, he loves to spend time with his family and friends by playing video games, walking with his dogs, or enjoying some delicious foods.

Amy Madson

Enterprise Agile Transformation Consultant

Amy is a highly skilled Enterprise Transformation Consultant at Scrum Inc. with 20+ years of experience with enterprise transformation initiatives across many functions, organizations and product/service types. She joined Scrum Inc. with the goal and passion of achieving client-driven outcomes leveraging relevant practices, frameworks and mindsets.

Amy specializes in designing and executing integrated enterprise transformation initiatives driving both systemic and localized outcomes. Her approach is shaped by “lived experience” and the continual exploration and experimentation with all things Agile/Scrum/Lean. She has degrees in Business, German and Masters in Intercultural Relations. She thrives in environments of like-minded, forward focused teams that are motivated to succeed.

When not at work, Amy is drawn to the outdoors (walking, hiking, running, fresh air), international travel adventures and the pursuit of elusive ‘that’s so cool’ life moments.

Saraounia joins Scrum inc from the international development and multilateral aid sector, where she is an experienced Capacity development, conflict mitigation and service delivery system strengthening specialist, who prior to joining Scrum inc, led and supported multilateral foreign assistance programs at national and subnational levels. With over 8 years of experience working in Africa and Asia and 15 years living across Africa, Saraounia applies an intersectional lens to Scrum, where agile and the scrum framework, are key to firms adaptively engaging global and domestic challenges.

Jade started her career in the energy industry working first as an engineer and progressing through a variety of leadership roles in operations, logistics and operational excellence.  Her love of leadership and development led to her starting her own coaching practice to help women graciously maneuver various career transitions.

Jade is energized by the desire to learn and grow and help others do the same.  She loves reading, running, hiking, skiing and (apparently) outdoor adventure as she spent over a year traveling the country with her family in an RV.

Preetinder (Preeti) Pugatch is a highly skilled Scrum Team Coach and Strategy Consultant at Scrum Inc. With 10+ years of successful strategy consulting, engagement management, business analysis, and client/vendor relationship development experience in small to large agile and waterfall testing, consulting, insurance, and IT industries, she joined Scrum Inc. with the goal of unlocking Scrum Inc’s true potential by catalyzing vision and strategy transformation into powerful results. Preeti specializes in envisioning a better way of working and collaborating with organizations to foster growth and drive impactful outcomes, so that people across the globe can live empowered, happier, and fulfilled lives.

John Roach

Agile Transformation Consultant

John has a 20 plus year career in Agile and Enterprise Program Management. Prior to joining Scrum Inc, John spent four years on the Agile Transformation Team at TDAmeritrade where he was the HR lead. He has had an extensive career in the automotive industry and has also worked as a consultant in healthcare, fintech, banking.

He lives in Metro Detroit with his wife Kristina and dog Ava. A few notables, he lived in India for two years on assignment for one of the autos and spent several months in China putting together a broad coalition for global cell phone recycling and remanufacturing. When he’s not working you can probably find him at the beach or on the ski slopes.

Andrew brings a mindset that loving the core of what you do is the only way to be both happy and successful. Hailing from the Buckeye State, Andrew comes to Scrum Inc. with over a decade of experience in insurance, an MBA from The Ohio State University, and a background in coaching with the Fisher Leadership Initiative at OSU.

Before joining Scrum Inc., Andrew delivered customized management systems to front-line teams, corporate functions, and senior executives. He integrates concepts from Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, ADKAR, and coaching frameworks to meet teams where they are.

He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Ariel, and he is grateful for her every day. He finds joy through his relationships, notably Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Columbus, and through his animals: A shepherd, Nala, a chihuahua, Scooter, and a cat, Stormy. He achieves balance through his many hobbies, including origami, cooking, baking, Excel, turn-based games, listening to fantasy books, NPR, and exploring parks and restaurants in Columbus, Ohio.

Kelsey Sparrow

Product Owner, Public and Private Training

Kelsey graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Public Communications. With a background in Marketing and Business Development, Kelsey is dedicated to providing an excellent experience to all Scrum Inc. clients. As a part of the education business, she is focused on enhancing the way individuals, teams, and organizations define success, maintain a happy and productive work culture, and meet their customer’s needs.

Outside of work, Kelsey is an avid snowboarder and runner. When she isn’t enjoying the outdoors, you can find her inside painting or experimenting with cooking.

Alex Sutherland

Advisor

Alex is a serial entrepreneur with a decade of experience practicing Scrum both as a developer and as a product owner. He first learned Scrum in 2007 by attending one of Scrum Inc’s first Scrum Master classes and has used it since to envision, create, market, and sell software products to customers around the globe across multiple industries. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Alex was a graduate student in Game Theory and released the first commercial Nash Equilibrium solver for Poker.

Agile Transformation Consultant

Shaun has been a dedicated team Scrum Master or Product Owner to software, consulting, sales, product, and service teams. He has also served as an Agile Transformation Coach helping leadership at all levels embrace the Agile mindset. Shaun is passionate about understanding the root cause of issues, communicating clearly, and sharing insights which can help to create a shared language, approach, and community of practice.
Shaun lives in Baltimore, MD; has collected a wide range of hobbies and passions including swing dancing, martial arts, motorcycling, storytelling, and writing (poetry, short stories, and novels). He is dedicated to family, friends and any community that supports people and progress.
Tess Thompson, Ph.D.

Principal Agile Transformation Consultant & Trainer

Dr. Tess Thompson, has an unlimited amount of passion and energy to help others navigate volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) through consulting, teaching, and coaching for 30 years, mostly in the technology domain working as a leader in the United States and The Netherlands.

In the Netherlands is where she learned the importance of incorporating cultural intelligence on teams, which she has found beneficial everywhere, as all organizations have embraced diversity and globalization benefits.

Tess’s most challenging Scrum Team of her career, was the one she coached nights and weekends at home, which consisted of five children and some foster children. The team managed their work with one-week sprints and held a daily scrum at 7:00 AM at the breakfast table. Now, the children have all gone out to create their own Scrum Teams and Tess and her husband have filled the nest with dogs and grandchildren!
